"The Metamorphosis of the Hummelist"

 When I was a little girl in Denmark, I  often had a dream where thousands of roots and cords were fighting each other in an enormous battle.

In this terrible knot of unconsciousness some of the fighters broke away and like in a sudden miracle they started to fly around in the wind slowly transforming themselves into beautiful harmonious beings carried around the world by the cosmic energy.

This magic tree, root and cord world has grown up together with me and has become the fundamental beginning of my artistic gnarled and monster-like tree-beings and their metamorphosis.

I named them Hummelists and they live in my hummelistic art world.

The tree as the symbol of life touching the elements of earth, water , air, fire – not to mention ether- has become the epitome of my artistic research representing mankind in its tremendous process from gnarled unconsciousness towards higher spiritual simplification.

Stepping from art to life
we hopefully
one day
in truly harmony
could become
human beings.
